The Several Journeys of Reemus: The Story
The backdrop of the game The Several Journeys of Reemus is set in a fictional kingdom named Fredericus. The two principal characters of the game is Reemus, who is an exterminator and he is also assisted by a purple bear called Liam. Reemus tends to be narcissistic and complacent while Liam’s nature is more kind and agreeable. Reemus is looking forward to outdo the fame of his brother who is a dragon slayer. Since almost around 97% of the entire population is uneducated, the only method to be famous is by preaching about one’s heroic quests.
The Several Journeys of Reemus Prologue
The prologue is titled as "Lair of the Ant Queen". The game starts with the two central characters composing a ballad that chronicles Reemus’ actions as an exterminator while walking in the direction of an inn. The innkeeper comes out and pleads them both to get rid of all the ants that have infested his inn. Initially Reemus is somewhat reluctant to leave his preoccupation with the ballad and assist in exterminating the ants as he feels that this is going to affect the quality of his ballad. The innkeeper then tells the duo that the ants that he is referring to are as large as humans and the anthill that they have created is as big as a volcano. The prologue then has many random puzzles that ultimately lead the two main characters to the great Ant Queen whom Reemus has to defeat. Reemus defeats the Ant Queen and becomes a legendary figure in his own right. After that the monarch of Fredericus sends Reemus and Liam a letter inviting them to come to his castle. The ending of the prologue in this version occurs when Reemus kills the Ant Queen by poison. An alternative ending involves Reemus jumping inside the mouth of the Ant Queen and the queen choking on Reemus’ head. Due to this incident, Reemus gains the reputation of being a reckless exterminator. A holy ant war begins between the ants and the humans. No letter is received from the king in this version.
